1. Perfect positioning
·       A kitchen should be ideally placed in the South-East corner of your flat or main building. It is believed that Lord Agni (fire) resides in this direction.
·       It shouldn’t be under or above the bedroom, puja room, or bathroom & entrance must be positioned in West, North or East direction.
·       Kitchen placed in house’s North direction increases expenses, stress, mental tension, and may incur great losses , as the north direction is considered to be Kubera’s place.

2. Placing the stove
·       A Gas or Stove should be kept at the South-East corner that too few inches far from the wall.
·       It should be placed far away from the Taps or Sinks.

3. Cooking Directions
·       While  cooking, the person needs to face East direction.

4. Storage Area
·       Place Heavy Utensils in South or West Zone of Kitchen
·       Same way the Light Utensils should be kept in North or East Zone of the kitchen.

5.Ventilation
·       Ventilation is the most important Part of a Kitchen.
·       Its absence makes this closed space both uncomfortable and claustrophobic.
·       Furthermore, it gets rid of unwanted and pungent odor.
·       According to Vastu, Windows should be placed in the East and West Directions of Kitchen. An installed exhaust fan would further prove to be useful.

6. Color scheme
·       Avoid black color for the floors of the kitchen.
·       More appropriate colors for both walls & floors of Kitchen are red, green, orange and yellow.

7. Place for the refrigerator
·       Refrigerator in the kitchen, should be place in the North, West, South, or Southeast direction.
·       Never place Refrigerator by mistake in the Northeast direction.
·       In case placing it in Southwest direction, place it one foot away from the corner to keep the place unobstructed.

8. Water
·       Wash basin or sink needs to be kept at the Northeast corner.
·       Same ways the Water pitcher and other such utensils should be placed at North or Northeast side of kitchen.

9. Platform shape
·       The extension of Kitchen platform where we keep the useful Electrical Appliances such as Mixer grinder, Ovens etc. should be of L-shape.
·       This placement is known to be Highly Auspicious.

10. Dining table & clock location
·       If you keep Dining table in your kitchen then place it in West or Northwest side.
·       Clocks should be kept on Southwest or South walls.


11. Fire offerings
·       First thing in the morning, give some of the portion of Food you prepare as offerings to the Fire(Agni). This gives prosperity and peace to the house.
